The French Open will be held on the 24th and 25th of November 2001 in Epinal (North East of France).

Rules and Playing Format French Open 2001 |
|
|
1. The competition's Organizing Commitee is made up of M. Jean Roudaut (President of the FFD), M. Jean-Yves Elie (Sports Director of the FFD), M. Bernard Umhauer (President of Vosges Fléchettes), M. Bruno Renard (President of the Eastern Darts League).
2. Entry to the French Open is open to all players holding a FFD or WDF licence.
3. The five events of the French Open consist of Men's singles, Ladies' singles, Youths singles, Men's pairs and Ladies' pairs.
4. The WDF Playing Rules for the Sport of Darts shall apply to all the matches played in the French Open.
5. All matches, quarter finals included, are played over the best of 5 legs, each 501 with a straight start and finish on a double or bull.
6. The Ladies', the Pairs' and th Youths' semi finals and finals are played best of 7 legs. The men's semi finals and finals are played best of 9 legs.
7. Before each match, a coin is tossed to determine which player starts the game. The winner of the toss throws in odd numbered legs, the loser in even numbered legs.
8. Tie-breaker rule will apply for semi finals and finals only. The winner of the toss throws first for bull's eye to decide on the start of the deciding leg. The nearest of the bull's eye starts the leg. Should each player's dart finish at the same distance from the bull's eye, then both players will repeat the performance in alternate throwing order. Darts that hit and remain in the bull or 25 bed wil be retrieved before the opponent's next throw.
9. The counting is done vertically by a voluntary marker. In the absence of a marker, the Directon Commitee is entitled to choose one from the registered available players.
10. Each player has a log Card on which are mentionned the board number and the time at which the player should be there. Log cards should be collected on Saturday 24th an Sunday 25th November between 9 :00 am and 9 :45 am.
11. The competition is scheduled to start at 10:00 am, on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November. Any player failing to turn up in the following 5 minutes of the above mentioned time may be disqualified by the Organizing Commitee. Th winner of each match should tell their results to the registration desk and have their log cards updated.
12. The timing announced by th organizer is given for information purposes only. It may be modified as the competition goes on. However, the time shown on the log card is binding.
13. The closing date to enter the French Open is the 17th November. Entry forms and entry fees must be sent to the organizer by th 14th November 2001 at the latest for France, 10th November 2001 at the latest for foreign countries (The post mark will act as proof). No telephone applications will be accepted.
14. A player not attending the awards ceremonies will not be able to request his prize money.
